WHAT KIND OF CHURCH IS GENESIS?

Genesis is a Christian church associated with the Evangelical Covenant Church. We believe God loves all people and desires nothing more or less than a relationship with them through His Son, Jesus. We want to be a church filled with real people, who live real lives, and follow a real God. Whether you want to continue growing in your relationship with Jesus, or are looking for a place to start again, Genesis is a great place to land.

WHERE AND WHEN IS THE SERVICE?

Genesis is in a retail center located on the southeast corner of 32nd Street and Thunderbird in Phoenix. Our Sunday service starts at 10am.

HOW SHOULD I DRESS?

We only have one rule for your clothes: wear some! Other than that, wear what makes you most comfortable. A few people at Genesis will wear their “Sunday Best” but most wear something casual and comfortable. Don’t feel like you have to dress to impress. We want you to come just as you are.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I ARRIVE?

When you arrive at Genesis you will be welcomed by one of our volunteers. Once in the lobby you can take advantage of our cafe where we serve coffee, tea, lemonade and water. You can also stop by our Welcome Center to get any more information you would like and ask any questions about Genesis. And, you can check-in your kids (infant-5th grade) into Genesis Kids. Five minutes before the service begins, we will start a countdown so you know when it’s time to enter the auditorium for the service.

WHAT IF I HAVE KIDS?

We love kids at Genesis. Which is why we provide kids their own experience during the worship service. Genesis Kids creates safe, secure, and fun environments for infants to 5th grade. Your kids will play games, learn about God, and make friends at Genesis Kids. Your kids will love it. Checking your child in for the first time is simple and easy. Just head to the Genesis Kids check-in station when you enter the lobby. Your child will receive a name tag with an ID code on it. You will receive a ticket with the same code. When you pick up your child, please take your ticket to the room they are in.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING THE SERVICE?

Our services begin with live music followed by a greeting from one of our volunteers or staff. The band will then play 2-3 more songs and then we’ll pray. Following the music, one of our pastors–usually our Lead Pastor, Ryan Lunceford–will deliver a 30-35 minute message. The message will be compelling, relevant, and applicable to your everyday life. Following the message, we will sing another song followed by some final announcements and an offering (don’t worry, we encourage new guests not to give–we are just glad you came). Occasionally, we will take communion after the message. Communion is an ancient practice that Jesus asked us to do to remember Him. We take a piece of bread and dip it into a cup of grape juice (A gluten free option is available).

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

We have a few opportunities for your to get connected at Genesis Church. NEXT happens once-a-month and is a great way to meet the pastors at Genesis. In addition, we offer a class once a quarter called “Starting Point.” This is a perfect place to begin exploring more about Jesus, being a Christian, and the church. You can also jump into one of our Life Groups or begin volunteering on one of our many teams as soon as you feel ready.
