With the fall season at Genesis getting started this weekend, I wanted to give a quick update on some of the changes happening within our staff. We are working to make our staff as effective as possible in light of some of the recent changes.
Genesis Kids Director
As of September 1, Carmel Groenwald is taking over as our Interim Genesis Kids Director. Carmel not only has a background in education but has a passion and ability to lead our kids ministry to the next level. She will be responsible for all things Genesis Kids and is already making the ministry a vital piece of Genesis. At the end of the year, we will re-evaluate the position and determine a permanent solution.
Even though Carmel will be stepping into her new position as the kids director, you will continue to see her once or twice a month as our worship leader. During the other weeks we will be bringing in other worship leaders to lead our services. I’m excited for us to hear different voices and experience worship in new ways with some of the best worship leaders in the valley. During the remaining months of the year we will take some time to determine the best way forward with this need in our church.
One of our commitments as a staff is to raise up and develop leaders for our ministries within our church. While staff is critical to a church’s health, the ultimate purpose of the staff is to equip the church for ministry. So, while we may be a little leaner staff-wise, we are also positioning ourselves to become a church that intentionally develops leaders from within. Often times churches get “staff heavy” and the church suffers. We always want to keep a good balance of staff and volunteer leaders to ensure we continue to be a healthy church.
Thanks for your continued commitment to our church. I can’t wait to see how God molds us into the dream we have to become a thriving community of changed lives, changing lives.
